Who am I?
My name is Sarah McRae and I am a senior studying secondary education--Math, and Spanish at the University of Cincinnati. My journey to senior year of college has been long and winding, but I’m here to stay! I took a break from education to try engineering. I enjoyed the classes and my friends, but the co-op experience was not for me. All of my volunteering experiences had to do with teaching and education, and I truly have a passion for it, so I decided to make the decision and go back. I couldn’t be happier and am starting to find my way. I started student teaching in January 2019, and am currently a full time student teacher at Walnut Hills HS, teaching eighth grade math!
As important as classes are, hobbies are what makes a person well-rounded. Music has been an important aspect of my life for the past twelve years. I play the harp and the cello, but prefer performing the harp. I was a part of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO) for two years which was such a memorable experience in so many ways. Being part of CSYO increased my confidence in not only harp, but school and social events. In 2016 I took a study tour to Vienna and really enjoyed my experience. It was my first time to Europe! Check my second year honors experiences page for more details!
I grew up in a small suburb of Cincinnati called Wyoming. In this town, I received the best public education in the state of Ohio. Wyoming City schools does an amazing job at giving its' students opportunities to see the world, study in a variety of Advanced Placement classes and broaden their understanding of the possibilities they are capable of. Because of my high quality education and amazing teachers, I have chosen the field of teaching. I keep in contact with my high school math teachers and can’t wait to have them as my mentors when I start teaching in a year!
